Professor Emeritus at Tel Aviv University and senior researcher at the Alliance Center for Iranian Studies and the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African studies at Tel Aviv University. Founded the Alliance Center for Iranian Studies at Tel Aviv University and managed the Parviz and Pouran Nazarian Chair for Modern Iranian Studies. In addition, served as Head of the Department of Middle Eastern and African History and as the Dean of special programs at Tel Aviv University. Following his retirement from Tel Aviv University, served as President of the College of Law and Business in Ramat Gan. Visiting professor at leading universities including UCLA, Princeton, Cornel, Yale, University of Chicago, Oxford, Munich, Waseda, Melbourn and Monash. Also held a range of positions outside academic life, including Chairman of the Maccabees Scholarship Fund, Chairman of the Paguash organization in Israel and member of the Global Paguash Council, as well as the first President of the Citizens Empowerment Center in Israel.
