Izak Parviz Nazarian R.I.P

About me

Izak Parviz Nazarian is a Tehran-born Israeli-American businessman and the founder of Citizen's Empowerment Center in Israel (CECI). He made Aliyah to Israel in 1948 and served in the 7th brigade during Israel's Indipendance war and was even wounded in battle. In 1956 He decided to return to Tehran, where he became a successful constructor due to  corporation with Israeli companies Mekorot and Solel Boneh. In 1979, with the begining of the Iranian Revolution, Nazarian and his brother fled back to Israel. After a short time, he moved to Los-Angeles, where together with three jewish scientists from MIT, he founded Qualcomm, a company which developed tracking technology for trucks and gained success. In 2003 Nazarian received an honorary doctorate degree from Tel-Aviv University and inaugurated a department of advanced political studies in his name. Nazarian was engaged in philanthropy, especially within the jewis-persian in the United States. He established a synagogue in Beverly Hills and the Institute of Iranian Studies in Tel Aviv University.

Tomer Lotan

grew up in Givatayim, served in Unit 8200 in the Talpiot program, and serves in the reserves in a unit at the rank of captain. He began his career in public service as a senior advisor to Education Minister Yuli Tamir. In 2012, he founded the organization "MA'AS" (Eran Shapira Center), which works to strengthen and renew public service in Israel, and served as its chairman for several years. Tomer managed the Center for Local Government and Regional Development at the Elka Institute for Leadership and Governance of the Joint Organization, where he developed the Regional Clusters model, which was adopted and implemented by the government. From 2014 to 2017, he served as CEO of the Israeli Center for Empowerment of the Citizen, until he was appointed as Chief of Staff to Avi Gabbay upon his election as leader of the Labor Party and the Zionist Camp. From 2020 to 2021, he served as Head of the "Israel Shield" Plan, tasked with managing the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Israel. In this role, he was responsible for implementing the traffic light plan and the green pass. He also served as a senior fellow at the Berel Katznelson Foundation and as a member of the board of trustees of the Social-Economic College. In June 2021, with the formation of the thirty-sixth government of Israel, Minister of Internal Security Omer Bar-Lev appointed Lotan as Director-General of the Ministry until the swearing-in of the thirty-seventh government.

In parallel to his extensive academic career, Prof. Shetreet serves as President of the International Association of Judicial Independence and World Peace, nominated for the Nobel Prize in 2013. In addition, Prof. Shetreet held many political positions: served as minister in the government of Yitzhak Rabin RIP as well as in the following government Headed by Shimon Peres, in the capacities of Minister of Science, Minister of Economy, Minister of Religious Affairs and the Minister responsible for the Second broadcasting authority. Elected deputy mayor of Jerusalem in 1999. Prof. Shetreet published over 20 law books and over a hundred academic papers in the world's leading law journals. Prof. Shetreet earned an LL.B. and an LL.M., from the Hebrew University (Magna cum laude), as well as an M.A and Ph.D from the University of Chicago school of Law. In December 2014 Prof. Shetreet was elected member of the Royal Academy of Belgium for Sciences and Arts.

Professor of Philosophy and President of Shenkar College. Former Minister of Immigration and Immigrant Absorption and Minister of Education. In her capacity as Minister of Education, initiated the "New Horizon" initiative - one of the widest reforms to be implemented in the Israeli education system for decades. In parallel, increased education budgets, added thousands of classrooms in peripheral regions, and promoted the implementation of a longer school day and an increased civil studies curriculum. Prof. Tamir earned a Ph.D in Political Philosophy from Oxford University, as well as an M.A in Political Sciences and a B.A in Biology, both from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Began his professional career as a teacher, advancing to supervisory positions at the Ministry of Education. Held various positions in many public institutions including the Workers' Council, the Histadrut (General Organization of Workers), the Public Council of Kupat Holim (General Sick Fund), Foreign Affairs Division at the Histadrut, the Association for Democracy and the Association for Promoting the Olive Industry in Israel. Member of the Committee for the Integration of Minorities, personally appointed by former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, RIP. Took part in many diplomatic delegations abroad. In recent years has been a member of the Beit Hagefen Public Council in Haifa and the professional team of the Aaron Ofri/Mashav International Training Center, where he coordinated and led groups of trainees from abroad, including Middle Eastern countries.
